In a nutshell, my understanding of the Law of Attraction is based on the premise that we are vibrational beings; that viewed under a powerful microscope our cells are constantly moving and that nothing in essence is solid. I am led to believe that everything vibrates at a different frequency, the slower, the more solid appearing. Apparently, thoughts vibrate at quite a high frequency. I have often wondered how, if I have an idea which I believe to be unique, within a short time, I’ll hear of someone on the other side of the world who has the same idea! I believe it’s called Morphic Resonance. Anyway, according to Abraham-Hicks and other leading edge teachers, if I am thinking thoughts, negative or positive, with strong emotion or feeling, the vibration I put out begins to attract similar manifestations of those thoughts.
Many of our leading edge spiritual thinkers and quantum physicists today appear to agree that there is a basis of truth in this theory. It would appear that most of us live our lives by default, unaware that we are inviting unwanted experiences into our lives as well as wanted ones, but with no personal thought control. That is why it is important, I believe, to respond to situations instead of react. Responding entails awareness and thought and this gives us time to align our feelings with our desire for the best possible outcome. Reaction usually involves feelings without much thought. The trick, I believe, is to reach for the best possible feeling that I can in any given situation and bit by bit to feel my way to a better emotional place. It’s then possible for me to visualise my desired outcome before taking any action.
I find that appreciation is one of the best tools I can use to raise my vibration – that is genuine appreciation! Finding something in someone or in a situation to appreciate, raises my vibration. I have been able to achieve this in some of the worst experiences in my life, by appreciating the support and love of the people surrounding me. I understand that I have no control over other people or world events, tragedies and so on, but I can accept that maybe my personal vibration attracts to me what I experience and how I experience it. The other tool I use is music. In difficult situations, I have even hummed the Flintstones theme music to lift my spirit – in my head of course!
The purpose of the Law of Attraction, I understand, is continual creation, expansion and our choice of personal experience in this time and place. That’s why out of unwanted experiences, we get to fine tune our desires. In fact this can be seen on a larger scale in evolution, a sifting of what works and what doesn’t.
At the present moment, this idea resonates with me and adds to my sense of wellbeing. A lot has been written on the subject, my favourite sources of information to date have been from Abraham-Hicks, Mike Dooley, Rhonda Byrne and Louise L. Hay.
